The Future of Cars: Why Reliability Matters More Than Technology

For millions of people, a car represents freedom, safety, convenience, and the ability to travel anywhere with family without worrying about transportation. This is why reliability has always been one of the most important qualities of any vehicle.

Today, petrol cars remain the most practical choice for long-distance travel. Their engines have been refined for decades, fuel stations are available almost everywhere, refueling takes only a few minutes, and drivers rarely worry about getting stranded because of fuel availability.

Electric vehicles are improving rapidly, but they still face several practical challenges. Battery life gradually degrades over time, charging infrastructure is still developing, charging takes longer than refueling, and many drivers experience range anxiety—the fear that the battery may run out before reaching the next charging station.

If future EVs consistently provide around 6
00–700 kilometers of real-world range, support ultra-fast charging, and charging stations become as common as today's petrol pumps, they could become the preferred option for most people. For everyday driving, such a range is sufficient because very few drivers travel more than 700–800 kilometers in a single day.

A realistic transition should not eliminate petrol overnight. Instead, every existing fuel station should gradually be equipped with fast EV charging facilities. This approach would allow both technologies to coexist while giving consumers confidence during the transition.

Another exciting possibility is dynamic charging, where vehicles charge automatically while driving through specially equipped roads. Although technically possible, it would require enormous investment and many years of infrastructure development before becoming practical on a national scale.

The global economy depends on transportation. Cars, buses, trucks, ambulances, and commercial vehicles cannot simply stop functioning while new technology develops. For this reason, any transition from petrol to electric vehicles will almost certainly be gradual rather than sudden.

For anyone planning to buy a petrol car today, there is little reason to fear that petrol will disappear within the next few years. The transition to electric mobility is a long-term process measured in decades, not months. During this period, both petrol vehicles and electric vehicles are expected to coexist while technology and infrastructure continue to evolve.
